Your 30/1.4 and 55-210 will be fine for video on the A7C just now that the effective focal length will be 45mm and 82.5-315mm. Seeing the output of the 16-55/2.8 makes it difficult to use anything else. If OSS is a requirement, I would go with the 18-105/4 as it has OSS and electronic zoom. When I am shooting outdoor sports video, I can't imagine what I would gain by using a FF 70-200GM. The 70-350 is an exceptional lens in that it is clear and has excellent OSS. Indoor video with the 16-55/2.8 is ridiculously good, but there is no OSS, and the IBIS of the A7C is useless for video. I think you need to ask yourself what's important in your video, IQ or OSS? If its IQ then go with the lenses I use. I don't have the Sony apsc body to compare, but apsc mode on the A7C gives you 10.6MP to work with, more than enough to render the ~8MP needed for 4k. ![]() I come from m43 systems where 4k video functionality/features were superior until recently, and the Sony A7C with these lenses puts out better video quality. I use the 20/2.8, 16-55/2.8 and 70-350 apsc lenses for both photo and video. In regards to your current question around using apsc lenses on the A7C for video, do it. This is one of the worst places to ask about using aps-c lenses on FF bodies as it "idiotic" or "wasteful", lucky for you I am one of the few who uses apsc lens extensively on my A7C so ask your questions. So I hope with that setup I'd essentially be getting the same look as with the A6600 but with the added benefit of being able to add FF lenses later. Would someone be able to tell me if I'm right in thinking that for video work, putting APS-C lenses like the Sony 55-210 OSS and the Sigma 30mm F1.4 on the A7C body and using crop mode will give me the same focal length and FOV as using those lenses on an A6600? And would it be true that using them on the A7C will actually produce better results in low light because of the larger pixels? And that I'll still get 4K resolution and the same autofocus/tracking/eye detection performance as with using FF lenses? ![]() I use a similar lens (55-200) on my Canon M6ii and get results I'm very happy with. Especially attractive to me is the reach I could get with the 55-210 OSS for so little money. The rest of my work is video and the smaller, lighter and more affordable the lenses, the better, so I'm thinking about using APS-C lenses. So I am considering an A7C for its compact form and for now, just one, compact full frame prime lens, with the option to add more full frame lenses in future for photography use (when I can afford to). I would love to switch to full frame just for photography, especially street photography, but for video I don't need full frame. ![]() I've been shooting video on APS-C bodies for years and it's time for me to upgrade to a new body.
